Help with SBE Business Contact Manager

I'm not sure if this is the correct place but I'm stuck!

I installed MS SBE 2003 w/ business contact manager and for about a week it worked well. Then funny things started happening. I got to the point where the business task menu pull down menu (from within Outlook 2003) was not even showing up! The contact manager that is under the same window as the regular contacts would only display the name of the contact but nothing else stating that the Business Contact Manager was unable to Initialize this Form. Ouch! That sucked.

So, I backed up everything I could think of (exported all bits and pieces of my Outlook to individual PST files and copied those to my external drive. Then I attempted to uninstall MSO SBE which worked sort of. It couldn't take out the SQL part and now even after a complete Norton Wipe, Disk Defrag and Registry Repair it still doesn't uninstall or reinstall properly. All other aspects of MSO SBE work except for the part that I bought it for the use of the database.

Could someone please assist or direct me to where I might be able to get some help - I don't know much VB but can find what I need with some help.

Anything is better than where I am now! Please help if you can.

I just found out how to fix this... open outlook...select help... then select about ms office outlook... select disabled items once you enable the BCM close outlook and open it again... voila is that simple...

|||I am getting the "Outlook business manager was unable to initialize this form" message but it's only happening when I try to design the form. I have SP2 installed, I am not importing or copying any BCM stuff. It's all new. BCM doesn't not show as being disabled. Any one have an explaination?

Help with RS Report Viewer in .Net 1.1 (Sortable Columns)

Currently, we are using .net 1.1 and SQL 2005. To integrate RS without having to open new browser windows or launch the report manager, we are using the ReporService.asmx service to render the reports. One thing that we are having a difficult time with is allowing columns to be sortable. In report manager, we have sortable columns sorting without a problem, but once the page is rendered within our product using the service, it is rendered without the sortable columns.

While going through the different flags within the service I found that there is a flag for Javascript (which is what I'm assuming I need) but it doesn't change the report when I enable it. I am wondering if there is a combonation of flags that need to be set to allow the sorting to work or if it just not possible to do sorting when rendering the HTML sent from the service. Hopefully this is enough infomation to lead to some answers with this. Thanks.

I don't think it's necessarily a javascript issue -- although it might be if you are using ajaxy stuff since there are apparently issues there.

What's your doctype in your page?

The 2000 version of the SSRS Web service (ReportService.asmx) doesn't support interactive features. The Report Manager uses URL access for report rendering which supports interactive features. The 2005 web service supports interactive features but you need to pass in the identifier of the sortable item wchich you don't know at design time. To make the long story short, I don't know of a hack to sort via the web service. My recommendation will be to upgrade to ASP.NET 2.0 and use the ASP.NET report viewer which supports all interactive features.

I am using MSDE Manager for my database, and I was wondering, if data is entered on one table, IE UserID, shouldnt that same userID pop up in the related column on the foreign table as well?I don't quite see what you're getting at here

from your log file, your MSDE is runnig... but you probably installed MSDE
without network protocols support, and this unfortunately can cause the
corresponding instance not to show up in the SQL Server Service Manager, as
reported in http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;814132

MASTER\MYFIRSTSQLSERVER
on the server line of SQL Server Manager, wait a painfully long time with
the hour glass, and eventually you should see your services state.
Unfortunately, you'll have to do this everytime as it won't stick. ( Don't
you wish you had shortened that instance name now? ;-) )
